Seismic strengthening and refurbishment delivered with minimal disruption.

Our Nelson team has a long-standing relationship with Richmond Mall. We’ve completed many seismic strengthening projects over the years, often working nights to allow the mall to trade as usual. Our latest project was demolition, structural works, services upgrade, fire upgrades and fit-out at Ambrosia Café.

The client initially planned to complete the work over three stages with the café operational. We produced a feasibility study that showed that closing the café temporarily would benefit both the tenant and client by reducing the construction programme from 61 working days to 20 working days.

We completed some work while the café was open, reducing disruption by completing work outside trading hours and temporarily screening workfaces in customer-facing areas. We also provided ongoing budgeting and methodology advice to expedite the works and identify opportunities for cost savings.

Overall, we ensured that the client’s objectives were met while causing minimal disruption for the café and neighbouring tenants.
